Non-surgical Face Lift with Thread

A non-invasive method of getting rid of sagging cheeks and jowls is the thread face lift. As the name suggests, the skin of the face, jawline, brow and neck is lifted using very fine threads. This procedure is safe, easy and does not involve surgery.

Who is a good candidate for the procedure?

The best candidates for this procedure include men and women and men in the age group of 35 to 60 years. Important pre-requisites for this procedure to be successful is that the facial skin must not be sagging excessively, the skin should not be very delicate and the face should not be very thin or bony.

What is the actual procedure?

Firstly tiny slits are made in the skin (preferably behind the ears or close to the hairline and threads are inserted in a zig-zag type pattern. Special type of intradermal or polypropylene threads are used in this procedure. The threads are pulled to make the skin taut and the ends of the thread are fixed in the deep tissues above the hairline. The thread lift can be done under local anaesthetic and hospitalisation is not needed.

What can be expected after the procedure?

There is some bruising and swelling after the procedure is performed. Patients can resume normal activity after 3-4 weeks. They are advised not to rub their face and to sleep on their back only so that there is no pressure on the face. The natural collagen formation in the skin tissue will gradually strengthen the threads and make the thread lift permanent within six months. Scarring is minimal as it is hidden behind the hairline.

Is it safe?

When performed by an experienced surgeon the procedure is very safe.
